Workout Recap - Week of November 2, 2025
I remain discombobulated. Monday  Muay Thai double class The guest kru had us working on low kick defense and counters. It started out quite practical, by his standards, though it did stretch on and on to the point of feeling more useful for keeping up good technique through fatigue than for real use. That's still a good thing to work on, though, so I've got no real complaints. I was also just glad to be back to training after a break. Tuesday  Muay Thai class This was a
Workout Recap - Week of October 19, 2025
Late posting this because I'd been away on a work trip last week, so there wasn't a pressing need. October 27's work will remain hidden in my personal records. Monday  Muay Thai double class The guest kru had us work on starting with a simple drill and building on it gradually to end up with some extended offense practice. Then we finished up by having some fun with jumping round kicks, which the main kru complimented me on (granted that her standards were probably lowered

Quinn of Axeford (Ironsworn Actual Play - Gaiden Session 1)
Session 0 Session 15 After some other matters kept me away for a while, I'm back at this. I didn't want to jump right in again with Quinn, though, since I wasn't in the mood for more of his heavy roleplay right now, so this is a little side story in the same setting. Whether Alain crosses paths with him at some future point remains to be seen, but for now, I decided to enjoy an adventure with a monster hunter in the Flooded Lands. As for Alain herself, I dove in without any

Fira, Dvar of the Salama Consortium (Starforged Actual Play One-Shot)
Having been playing a bunch of Ironsworn lately, I decided to do a one-shot in Starforged, to remind myself a bit of the changes in that compared to the original game. Rather than going through Truths in full, I just decided to pretty much use the setting from Age of Wonders: Planetfall, so if anything seems unexplained and confusing, the best answer is probably to refer to that game's lore. Compared to Quinn's series , expect this to be lighter on roleplay and more focused

Quinn of Axeford (Ironsworn Actual Play - Session 15)
Session 0 Session 14 While I don't normally do content warnings, due to the very sensitive nature of stuff that comes up in this session, be forewarned that it has (veiled) discussions of CSA and abusive relationships. That out of the way, wow, a lot happened in this session. Sojourn seems to always give me a pile of wonderful roleplay, and wrapping up a couple of lingering vows also meant some key changes on the character sheet. This was definitely among my favorite sessio

Quinn of Axeford (Ironsworn Actual Play - Session 14)
Session 0 Session 13 Resolving that string of Weak Hits at the start was a bit of a journey, but once it all shook out onto firm ground, it did finally get to a point to proceed from in a pretty fun way. I feel like I'm getting close to attempting to fulfill the main vow that's been driving the last few sessions, which does have me nervous about it going terribly wrong, but hey, I wouldn't roll so many dice if I didn't enjoy some thrill of gambling. Makari led the way to a s
Workout Recap - Week of October 12, 2025
I can read between the lines. Tuesday  Muay Thai class This was a volume day, to make up for the holiday on Monday disrupting the regular flow of things. We did a few rounds of smaller drills and then putting them together into a larger one, then eventually finished up with some high volume round kicks. It was a good grinder straight off of a bit of a break. Wednesday  Muay Thai class The guest kru was back to teaching for this day, and he was also back to having us do ra

Quinn of Axeford (Ironsworn Actual Play - Session 13)
Session 0 Session 12 I have my own ways of handling extended skill check obstacles normally (theoretical long-time readers will have come across them on this blog before), but in the interest of giving Ironsworn a try as RAW as I can tolerate, I decided to use its scene challenge rules instead of my own approach. It worked out well enough this time, but honestly, aside from giving a bit of an opening for how to handle combat with alternative objectives to just straight viole

Quinn of Axeford (Ironsworn Actual Play - Session 12)
Session 0 Session 11 Another frustrating to start to this session, in terms of roll results, but things did even out some as it went on, at least. The intrigue has certainly ramped up, which is kind of wild considering this whole beast hunt sidequest started out as just the result of a weak hit on reaching my destination, but that's the Ironsworn way. Had it not been for that miss when making camp, I might have been in a position to try finishing it in this session, but con

Quinn of Axeford (Ironsworn Actual Play - Session 11)
Session 0 Session 10 This session was frustrating to play. Fun, too, but with ten rolls that came up as either weak hits or misses, half of which were 1 action score away from being a better result category, it seemed like everything I tried doing was futile. Granted, I did still make some decent progress towards the iron vow I'm focusing on despite that, and I was pleased with the dice setting me up for the conflict that I had been hoping for as the climax of this vow (bec
