Workout Recap - Week of January 7, 2018
Bit of a dearth of posts this week, I know. I've had a few things going on that'll take a spot of time to pay off. I won't say much more than that for now to avoid hyping things up too much. Just trust me on this.
Sunday
Type: Pass/Fail
Shoulder-width Handstand Push Ups - 2 sets of 10 (pass)
T&A Pull Ups - 2 sets of 7, each side (pass)
Pistol Squats, Both Hands Behind Me - 2 sets of 5, each side (pass)
Bonus: 4 sets of 3 Superman push ups, 10 burpees
Just another gradual step forward with this routine. There really isn't much more to be said about it. It's certainly more interesting to expound on notable advances or to wax philosophical, but most progress is just about grinding until it gets done.
Tuesday
Type: As Fast As Possible
7 sets of:
7 Pull Ups
7 Burpees
Time = 7:15
Bonus: 1 pull up, 1 burpee
After having been so disappointed with what I did for this challenge last weekend, I decided that I had to take another crack at it. As the results show, it was a much better performance this time. I still came up just short of my personal record, but it feels a lot better to only be 15 seconds short rather than 75 seconds short.
Thursday
Type: As Fast As Possible
5 sets of:
8 Pull Ups
6 Handstand Push Ups
6 Bridges
Time = 6:45
Bonus: 3 1-armed push ups with feet together (each side)
A slight variation of a workout that I've done somewhat regularly in the past, just substituting bridges in place of pistol squats. I'd had the feeling that I hadn't done bridges in a timed non-weekend workout lately, so I'd wanted to change that. I like bridges.
Friday
Type: As Fast As Possible
2 sets of:
20 Push Ups
15 Bridges
10 Hanging Straight Leg Raises
Time = 4:45
Bonus: none
Yes, this was kind of a weak workout in comparison to what I usually subject myself to. The weather was rather shitty today, so after driving around for far longer than I would've wanted to, I was feeling rather drained, so I just wanted to do something quick and simple.
Saturday
Type: As Fast As Possible
50 Burpees
Time = 4:30
Bonus: 10 pull ups
Normally, I would've done 100 burpees today. However, I was feeling a little under the weather (probably from spending entirely too much time around sick people in the past couple of weeks), I didn't want to push myself too hard. Maybe I was being overly cautious, especially after taking it easy in the previous workout as well, but better to err on the side of caution.
