Workout Recap - Week of November 15, 2020
Thanksgiving is coming up this week in the US, and of all the major holidays there, that's probably the most meaningful in my eyes. While there are certainly merits to setting aside time for showing love to a partner, for appreciating the efforts of parents, or for commemorating those whose losses came in service to higher ideals (whether those ideals were actually in jeopardy is something that too few have any actual say in, of course), Thanksgiving can cover all of those and more. Furthermore, reflecting on the good parts of your life is an important part of fostering happiness. The commodification and commercialization are distasteful, to put it mildly, but on the whole, it's the holiday that has the most potential to do good on a grand scale.
Especially in a year like this one, we can all use a reminder that everyone has something to be thankful for.
Sunday
Type: As Fast As Possible
3 sets of:
15/12/9 Pull Ups
15/12/9 Burpees
15/12/9 Bridges
Time = 8:45
Bonus: none
I pushed myself here, and I'm happy with the results. It could've gone better (given that my personal record for six sets of six pull ups/burpees/bridges is 6:45), but with how long it'd been since I did a challenge of that intensity, I was open to seeing anything under nine minutes as a good time.
Tuesday
Type: Pass/Fail
Close Pull Ups - 2 sets of 7 (pass)
Diamond Push Ups - 2 sets of 17 (pass)
Closing Bridges - 2 sets of 4 (pass)
Bonus: none
Grinding further along the path of progress. There isn't too much more to be said about this one.
Thursday
Type: Pass/Fail
Close Pull Ups - 1 set of 10 (pass)
Shoulder-width Handstand Push Ups - 1 set of 14 (pass)
Hanging Straight Leg Raises - 1 set of 9 (pass)
Bonus: none
I had a bit of discomfort in my waist (most likely from sleeping awkwardly), so I dialed things back a bit here and skipped over doing pistol squats out of an abundance of caution.
Saturday
Type: As Fast As Possible
5 sets of:
5 Pull Ups
5 Bridges
Time = 2:30
Bonus: none
This was another weekend where I seemed to have nowhere near enough time for everything that I wanted to do, so just squeezing in a quickie. At least that's a consistent finish time for this routine.
