Still doing these recaps while dragging my feet on finishing up my Hitman series reviews because it's going to make me sad to remember the details of how the modern Hitman games were disappointing to me.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing class. I felt like I was hitting and ripping with a satisfying amount of force, and I think my stamina held up well from start to finish despite doing drills that were aiming for a high volume of work. In all honesty, I probably underestimate my athletic prowess, especially for my age/size but even just in general.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This class was simple fundamentals, doing basic punch sequences ending in a round kick. I tried telling my partner that they were leaving their elbow too low to back up their wrist on their hook punches, but they didn't want to act on that advice until the kru later came around and told them the same thing. As I've expressed before, I'm fine with focusing on myself if my partner is unwilling to try learning, so it's no loss for me if they don't want to be a better fighter. Speaking of focusing on myself, I think I need to work on cleaning up my recovery on my round kicks when I'm not staying upright with my torso, because I noticed that I'm having a moment of awkwardness getting back into my stance.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
This was a head-to-head back-and-forth defense day, wonderfully. It was mostly fully-scripted stuff, aside from opening with a few rounds of practicing reacting to round kicks from either leg. I got to do a few rounds with more skilled people where I could go fast and intense, plus several rounds with less skilled people where I got to focus on having clean technique and helping them learn. It was a nice balance.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was another simple fundamentals class, consisting mostly of drills doing a couple of punches into a couple of kicks. I was trying to not put too much power into my front kicks in drills where that was being used mid-sequence, but either my form has gotten too good and/or my partner was eager to bail on holding the pads for those, because I kept having to chase them afterwards to finish the rep. I think it was moreso the latter, but I suppose there's a chance I'm better than I give myself credit for. That said, I'm hyped to get into some of the advanced classes next week to be inspired by working with more people who can demonstrate just how much more room I have to improve.
