Workout Recap - Week of December 29, 2024
Last week of the old year/first week of the new year meant more holiday disruptions, but I had a couple of muay thai classes this week around my own workouts, and the following week should see an escalation to include training BJJ as well.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a simple padwork day to do a little post-Christmas maintenance and wrap up the year, doing various versions of a couple of punches into a couple of kicks. My stamina felt good, though my balance was a little wobbly; hard to say if it was from inconsistent training of late or just a bad brain day. In any case, though, it was a reasonable class to finish off 2024.
Tuesday
Type: Pass/Fail
Diamond Push Ups - 1 set of 20 reps (pass)
Bridges - 1 set of 15 reps (pass)
Pistol Squats - 1 set of 3 reps, each side (pass)
Bonus: 1 set of 5 one-leg calf raises, 1 set of 7 burpees
This definitely felt smoother than when I did the similar workout last week. I should be mindful to keep sprinkling in some of my own calisthenics throughout my days to keep tuned up.
Wednesday
Type: Pass/Fail
Bridges - 1 set of 15 reps (pass)
Handstand Push Ups - 1 set of 10 reps (pass)
Shrimp Squats - 1 set of 5 reps, each side (pass)
Bonus: 1 set of 20 V-ups, 1 set of 10 breath isometric star plank (each side)
Once again, just repeating the similar workout from the previous week and appreciating the improved performance.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was a fundamentals review class to get back into the swing of things. It wasn't anything too special, though I do still enjoy having the stamina to run my partners into the ground and then keep up with their pace when it's my turn to hit the pads. Complacency breeds stagnation.
