Workout Recap - Week of February 9, 2025
I am aware that I'm a week late with this. I've got no good explanations for why, other than that I am. Oh well.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a fairly simple, kick-focused class. Literally every drill was just working on various kicks. Unfortunately, I had a bad padholder for a partner, so I just had to be content with making what I could out of it and moving on with my life. The BJJ coach was apparently sick, too, so no second class. Alas.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing class, where we worked on stringing together different sequences that altogether used all six basic punches. I had a good padholder for a partner this time, unlike the previous class, so we pushed things up a notch with mixing in some defense checks. I was pleased with handling in all fairly well, even mixing in some more evasive responses to incoming attacks than I usually do.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
This was a stamina-grinder, built around doing some long sequences. My brain wasn't really in reality on this day, so I felt rather sluggish and awkward, but I did my best to fight on through it. Sometimes, that's enough to count as a little win.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This class worked on extending offense beyond the typical "enders". As I've said before, I don't think these are necessarily the most practical sorts of drills, but they're good for improving conditioning and getting practice with using good technique while fatigued. The class even went on a little longer than usual to make up for the bad weather causing some class cancellations and lower attendance during the week, for a little extra stamina-building. I had fun with it.
