Workout Recap - Week of January 17, 2021
I've been dealing with some depression for the last week or two. I'm sure it'll pass in time as it usually does, but for the moment, it's not a great state of mind to be in. The powerlessness of being aware of it and yet unable to do anything direct to change it should be infuriating, but I'm just numb for now. Small miracles.
On the plus side, I did keep up with getting four workouts in this week. It could've been more, but I just couldn't get myself started on a couple days.
Sunday
Type: Pass/Fail
Shoulder-width Handstand Push Ups - 2 sets of 10 (pass)
Shrimp Squats - 2 sets of 4, each side (pass)
Hanging Straight Leg Raises - 2 sets of 10 (pass)
Bonus: 6 close pull ups
Once again trying to get back into my old routines. On a tangent, hanging leg raises seem like a good exercise for singers to help strengthen their core and back muscles for more powerful breathing.
Tuesday
Type: As Fast As Possible
3 sets of:
11/8/5 Pull Ups
11/8/5 Shoulder-width Handstand Push Ups
21/15/9 Prisoner Squats
Time = 4:45
Bonus: 20 breath isometric L-hang
Adding a bit of variety to my timed workouts. I should start pushing the difficulty on these.
Thursday
Type: Pass/Fail
Diamond Push Ups - 1 set of 23 (pass)
Closing Bridges - 1 set of 7 (pass)
Close Pull Ups - 1 set of 12 (pass)
Bonus: none
This was something that I did just to do something. It really doesn't deserve any further discussion.
Saturday
Type: As Fast As Possible
5 sets of:
5 Pull Ups
5 Burpees
5 Bridges
Time = 4:45
Bonus: 6 close chin ups
Ignoring the effects of fatigue, this was basically on pace to match my personal record for the six set version of this workout that I used to do monthly. That means I am still dealing with some regression from that peak, admittedly. I'd like to read more positives into it, but maybe I'd be better off just focusing on getting back into grinding harder.
