Workout Recap - Week of March 3, 2024
I know I'm well behind on this. Had a work trip in the following week, and I couldn't find the motivation to do this last week.
Monday
Muay Thai class
This was a fundamental review class focused on two- to three-strike sequences. I was partnered with a newbie who was struggling to keep up, which is generally fine with me, except this person kept both calling for me to go harder and yet acting scared of potentially being hit, so I wasn't sure what to do with respect to adjusting to their level. I ended up defaulting to keeping things on the light side from my general life conditioning that it's my fault when things go wrong, which did at least get me through the class without any incidents of note.
Tuesday
Muay Thai class
This was a boxing class, which feels like that's something we hadn't done lately. It was mostly about endurance punching with some intermittent defense mixed in, finished up with simple stamina-testing burn-outs. Nothing terribly remarkable, but a good general stress test, and it was nice to notice that I don't seem to be getting sore calves after these anymore.
Wednesday
Muay Thai class
Whether intentional or coincidental, this class ended up being a little blend of the previous two, working brief offensive sequences with defensive maneuvers strung between them. I was honestly kind of distracted and disengaged for this class, but I still got through it fine despite that, and I still got some satisfying reactions of discomfort from landing knee strikes on a belly pad. A minor win, and a nice indication of improvement to my skill floor.
Thursday
Muay Thai class
This was a pretty standard padwork class for the most part, aside from finishing up with a drill station gauntlet rotation. I ran out of steam on the last one of those, honestly, but I felt like I was pushing pretty hard otherwise, so perhaps that was to be expected. Really just kind of A Class overall.
